The Highdives are Power Punk-Rock trio from Barrie Ontario consisting of Scott Murray (Vocals/Guitar), Matthew Galbraith (Bass), and Shawn Moreau (Drums). The band launched onto the local punk-rock scene after the break-up of Attention Anyone, A former pop-punk band which Matthew Galbraith and Shawn Moreau had worked together on. After the band broke up, the two friends joined up with Scott Murray and started The Highdives, putting a higher focus on hardcore infused punk-rock.
To be completely honest, this band is like none I’ve ever heard. On their latest release Ocean Blood Murray’s vocals range from straight cleans, to hardcore fry’s, to grunge grumblings, and yet he manages to do this in a way that’s appealing even to those who aren’t strict fans of the genre. On the drums and bass, we find hardcore and fast (yet perfectly timed and controlled) beats which are sure to make you wanna get up and move. Lyrically, the band expresses itself by speaking out on issues which are close to themselves, like depression, anxiety, and drinking.
The band currently has three album releases to date Maybe I'll Be OkayI Can't Keep Up, and Ocean Blood and is currently planning a new digital of their previously vinyl exclusive ep, and already have several tracks lined up for their upcoming LP.
